In essence, we’ve only won prizes in two categories:
(1) Competitions that reward effect. Effect on a brand, effect on cash flow. Simply put, advertising that generates money.
(2) Competitions that measure customer satisfaction.
There you have our priorities. What’s behind them?
Perhaps it’s the fact that we started the agency in a small city.
Not in the protective anonymity of Stockholm or New York. But in Helsingborg, with just under 125,000 residents (taking in the entire county, including the farms). In a small city, word travels fast. Either you create campaigns that generate income for your clients, or you pack up shop.
Perhaps it’s the fact that we’ve mostly worked with B2B advertising.
Because while that type of advertising is harder for the agency to learn, it’s that much easier for clients to measure the advertising’s effect. The agency can hardly blame the weather if truck sales decrease. We keep that in mind, even when we work with consumer advertising.
Perhaps it’s the fact that our style attracts clients.
Thanks to the results. We’re just as commercially driven as our clients. So if it’s results and success our clients want, that’s exactly what they get. And our clients stay clients. Since starting in 1995 with six employees, Hilanders has grown into one of Sweden’s ten largest agencies. We can be found in both Malmö and Stockholm.
Perhaps it’s the fact that we as an agency practice what we preach.
We advertise. We arrange seminars – B2B-dagen in Stockholm and Reklamdagen in Malmö. We’re digitizing. We work across borders – we have our own international network with representation in North America and Asia. We invest when the market is weak. In the midst of the IT crisis, we started Hilanders Stockholm, which today works with several of Sweden’s biggest export brands. In the midst of the financial crisis, we moved all of Hilanders Helsingborg to Malmö and created the largest Swedish communication agency in the Öresund region.
